Woodlands Style and Cultural Narrative

Donna The Strange is the artistic alter ego of Donna Langhorne, who is a member of the Fishing Lake First Nation in northern Saskatchewan, Canada. Since 2010, Donna has captivated audiences with her versatile and prolific artwork, notably in the Woodlands style, addressing pressing issues within Indigenous communities.

Donna’s “Seven Vision Series” consists of thought-provoking pieces that invite viewers to explore Truth and Reconciliation, drawing from the Canadian experience and the Seven Sacred Teachings. Previously exhibited in 2019 through the Artists Against Racism network, her impactful work continues to resonate. “Common Truths” is a completed project that toured for three years under the Organization of Saskatchewan Arts Councils.

In 2024, Donna’s Tree of Life artwork was printed on cotton fabrics, expanding her artistic reach and supporting the presence of Indigenous culture and art within the textile industry.
